This six-week case study will explore the experiences of individuals living with lupus through transpersonal hypnotherapy. Participants will meet once a week for six 1½-hour sessions. Every session will begin with a conversation about the participant’s current experiences and what they would like to explore. After the hypnotherapy portion, there will be time to discuss anything that came forward during the session, including memories, emotions, physical sensations, inner imagery, thoughts, or personal insights.
Living with lupus can involve changes that extend beyond physical symptoms. The experience may affect how a person relates to their body, their sense of identity, their relationships, their daily responsibilities, and their understanding of themselves. The hypnotherapy sessions will create an opportunity to explore these areas from a personal and spiritual perspective.
During the sessions, participants may be guided to explore their relationship with their body and the experiences associated with lupus. They may examine feelings surrounding pain, fatigue, uncertainty, changes in their abilities, or the unpredictability of symptoms. There may also be opportunities to explore fears, emotional patterns, significant life experiences, personal beliefs, and the meaning they have assigned to their illness.
Some sessions may lead participants toward deeper questions about identity, purpose, spirituality, inner guidance, or the parts of themselves that may feel overlooked while managing a chronic condition. What emerges will depend on the individual and their own subconscious experience.
The purpose of this case study is to explore how transpersonal hypnotherapy may provide a space for personal reflection, emotional exploration, and spiritual inquiry for people living with lupus. This study does not replace medical care or claim to treat lupus. Each participant will have their own individual experience throughout the six-week process.
